How Duck.Design generated 39 booked sales calls at $190.86 each.
Venture Compass helped Duck.Design turn Meta paid acquisition into booked sales conversations for a $1.2k to $2k per month subscription design service.
Duck.Design sells unlimited design subscriptions for companies that need consistent creative output without hiring in house, managing freelancers, or waiting through slow agency timelines.
The acquisition challenge was not simply generating cheaper clicks. Duck.Design needed sales conversations with buyers who understood the value of replacing fragmented design execution with a flat monthly subscription.
The challenge
Duck.Design already had a strong offer: unlimited design for a flat monthly fee. Their pricing starts at $1,199 per month for graphic design, with broader plans at $1,899 and $1,999 per month.
That changes how paid acquisition should be judged. For this type of offer, cheap traffic is not the goal. The goal is to create enough qualified booked calls at a cost that gives the sales team room to convert profitably.
For this campaign period, website leads in the ad platform represented booked calls. The account was not counting generic form fills as the main result.
The strategy
Venture Compass structured the paid acquisition work around two main funnel angles.
General funnel
A broader acquisition angle for companies that need recurring design support and want an easier alternative to hiring, freelancers, or slow creative workflows.
Agency funnel
A more problem-aware angle for buyers comparing Duck.Design against traditional agencies, freelancers, or building an internal design team.
This gave the account a practical testing structure. The team could evaluate which positioning created booked sales conversations, not just which ads produced the most engagement.
The results
From January 1 to May 31, 2026, the campaigns generated 39 booked sales calls from $7,443.50 in ad spend.
| Metric | Result | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Booked sales calls | 39 | The primary conversion event, based on Gui’s clarification that website leads represented booked calls. |
| Average cost per booked call | $190.86 | Commercially reasonable for a $1.2k to $2k per month subscription offer. |
| Best campaign | $116.92 per booked call | Showed the account had a stronger acquisition path worth learning from. |
| Impressions | 380,021 | Enough delivery to test multiple campaign angles. |
| Link clicks | 3,473 | Traffic volume supporting the booked-call funnel. |
| Landing page views | 2,593 | Confirmed that campaign traffic was reaching the funnel, not only clicking ads. |
Campaign breakdown
| Campaign | Booked calls | Spend | Cost per booked call |
|---|---|---|---|
| duck_fb_performance-20-01-26 | 18 | $2,104.52 | $116.92 |
| General funnel creative testing | 8 | $1,357.07 | $169.63 |
| 002 Duck.design General Funnel | 4 | $844.64 | $211.16 |
| Agency funnel creative testing | 6 | $1,349.33 | $224.89 |
| 001 Duck.design Agency Funnel | 3 | $1,282.34 | $427.45 |
The strongest campaign generated 18 booked calls at $116.92 per call. That became the clearest signal for what the acquisition system could do when the angle, audience, and funnel worked together.
Why the economics mattered
Duck.Design’s public pricing gives useful context for the value of a qualified booked call.
- Visual plan: $1,199 per month.
- Creative Suite plan: $1,899 per month.
- Build plan: $1,999 per month.
- 3 month option: listed at 10% off.
- 6 month option: listed at 20% off.
At an average booked-call cost of $190.86, one Creative Suite customer at $1,899 per month covers the cost of roughly 10 booked calls in first-month revenue alone. If that customer stays for three months, it covers roughly 27 booked calls. If retained for twelve months, it covers roughly 119 booked calls.
This does not mean every call becomes revenue. The campaign spreadsheet does not include close rates or closed-won revenue, so we do not claim ROAS here. The point is simpler: the cost of creating a sales conversation was small relative to the potential value of one subscription customer.
The lesson
For sales-led subscription offers, paid acquisition should be judged by the quality and cost of sales conversations, not by cheap leads alone.
Duck.Design’s account showed that Meta could create booked calls at a commercially sensible cost. The best-performing campaign brought those calls down to $116.92 each, while the account average stayed at $190.86 across the full campaign period.
That is the best part of the acquisition work: Venture Compass helped build a paid path where Duck.Design could generate sales conversations at a cost that matched the economics of its subscription model.
